Sitting front row with Poppy Delevingne at Agnona Fall/Winter 2019

Simon Holloway is a keen connoisseur of fashion history. The artistic director of Agnona proved this with his Fall/Winter 2019 collection, presented this weekend at the end of Milan Fashion Week. More precisely, Holloway is interested in the current connections between sportswear and tailoring: How can one find modernity with a company founded in 1953? The answer is: opposites attract! Agnona’s DNA lies in the quality of the fabrics. Simon Holloway drew from the rise of the grunge in fashion and the emblematic 1992 shoot produced by Steven Meisel and Grace Coddington for Vogue. Few trends really penetrate the foundations of fashion—but for Fall/Winter 2019, Holloway underlined the “casualization” of fashion, while still embracing Agnona’s couture spirit. Poppy Delevingne, Suzy Menkes and Ken Downing were on board.
