Allanah Starr celebrates 40 years

Four days before the July 14 celebrations, Allanah Starr’s parade, fireworks display and firemen’s balls raised the tricolor flag by blowing out 40 candles at the Café Français.

Believe us, the event was worth it. For when the performer from Manhattan decides to make the wedding, it is with great reinforcements of rhinestones, champagne and stilettos. The one known as “A CLOWN IN A GLAMOROUS BODY” can take the Bastille alone. If the Bastille is the nickname of a stage or a worldly dance floor.

Allanah is one of those rare night birds without which the control freaks would have given themselves full power over our night circles, by standardizing codes and landscapes. By gregarious instinct, the creature advances in a highly organized gang: flags bearers of the gay & transgender scene, entertainers from all walks of life, and nyctalopic celebrities form the procession of this contemporary Bacchante, erected as an icon by the contemporary art world.

Like Marilyn in her time silkscreened by Andy Warhol and, more recently, Amanda Lepore adoubée official muse of David Lachapelle, Allanah is immortalized in 2010 by Marc Quinn, who declines it for the needs of an exhibition in a series of gilded sculptures created from mouldings of her body. Sanctified, Allanah!

Between two actus and while waiting for the big return of Emmanuel d’Orazio and Marc Zaffuto’s Club Sandwich parties, Allanah is still not wise. Happy birthday, Lady Starr!
