Armani/Silos honors the architecture of Tadao Ando

Opening Milan Design Week and Salone del Mobile, the not-to-be-missed event was the Tadao Ando exhibition at Armani/Silos. The exhibition title, “The Challenge,” recalls the difficulties the iconic Japanese architect (who calls himself the “warrior”) faced in order to create urban spaces full of life and energy. The brilliant self-taught architect stands out for his vision, combining elements like water and light. The partnership between Tadao Ando and Giorgio Armani began in 2001, with the Teatro Armani construction project, located in front of Armani’s Milan headquarters (where the brand’s fashion shows take place). The exhibition continues on from the important exhibition of Tadao Ando’s work that the Centre Georges Pompidou dedicated to him a few months ago in Paris; this is his first exhibition in Italy, and Tadao Ando’s project for Teatro Armani is presented for the first time. Among the guests at the opening: designer Marcelo Burlon, Luciano Benetton, photographer Oliviero Toscani, and Antonia Dell’Atte, Giorgio Armani’s iconic model.
