Award Ceremony for the 2015 COAL Prize

The COAL Art and Environment 2015 Prize, Objectif COP21, awarded last Thursday evening the artist Alex Hartley for his project Nowhere. The prize was awarded to him by a jury of personalities from contemporary art and ecology and selected among ten nominated artists. The COAL Oceans Special Prize was awarded to Elsa Guillaume for her project Coral Cosmography.

For its sixth edition, the COAL Prize, which called on artists to inspire the COP21 negotiations, brought together 389 dossiers from artists from 51 countries. The COAL Art and Environment Prize is one of the milestones of ArtCOP21, the Paris Climate 2015 Cultural Agenda. ArtCOP21, initiated by COAL in collaboration with Cape Farewell, proposes an artistic path bringing together the best cultural initiatives around COP21 and a committed political agenda of culture, in order to reaffirm the central place of creation in the ecological transition and sustainable development.
