Jean-François and Marie-Aline Prat, great collectors of 20th century art, are essential names on the contemporary art scene. The famous lawyer who died in 2011 and his wife regularly lent their works to exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou. Today, the Christie’s auction house is creating the event: on October 20 and 21, it will disperse the two hundred works in the collection built by the couple for an estimated total of more than 30 million euros. Earthquake assured in the art market, the sale is preceded by an exhibition in full week of Fiac at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild. Among the great names on display were Alberto Giacometti, Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein and Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose masterpiece “Jim Crow” is expected to win the highest bid.
