Closing evening of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival

The 2014 Cannes International Film Festival: it’s over. Last Saturday evening, the jury of the official selection closed the fortnight by awarding its prizes to feature films in competition. The opportunity to pay a vibrant tribute to Gilles Jacob, who leaves the presidency of the institution to make way for Pierre Lescure, and to award gold to Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan who wins the grail for his brilliant Winter Sleep.

At the end of the closing dinner, award winners, jury and winners gathered at Albane’s to celebrate the last day in the Côte d’Azur.

Palme d’Or: Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan
Grand Jury Prize: The Wonders of Alice Rohrwacher
Director’s Award: Bennett Miller for Foxcatcher
Screenplay Price: Leviathan
Best Actress: Julianne Moore for Maps to the Stars
Best Actor: Timothy Spall for Mr. Bennett Turner
Jury Prize (ex aequo) : Farewell to the language of Jean-Luc Godard and Mommy by Xavier Dolan
Palme d’or for the short film: Leidi by Simon Mesa Soto.
Gold Camera: Party Girl by Marie Amachoukeli, Claire Burger and Samuel Theis
