Cocktail A Magazine curated by Iris van Herpen

Sublime, again and again. After Maison Martin Margiela, Haider Ackermann, Ricardo Tisci or Rodarte and Proenza Schouler, Dirk van den Eynden and Dan Thawley – respectively director and editor-in-chief of the A magazine – have this semester entrusted the keys of their editorial to the conceptual designer Iris van Herpen. It is therefore natural that one finds in the pages of this brand new issue the flights of avant-garde art and fashion, sometimes drawing from the most remarkable pieces of the Dutch designer, sometimes from her protean inspirations which have never ceased to direct her experiments (special mention for the rediscovery of the works of the Spanish surrealist painter Meredios Varo). Unpublished series, varnished typographies, calligraphy essays, introspective discussions and five-star contributors: the book introduced by cover girl Hanne Gaby Odiele – flanked by a strange gold-plated jewellery spreader – is a treat for the eyes and the mind.

For the launch of this issue and the end of the FW 14/15 fashion shows, the creative team gathered a small contingent of collaborators, close and muses in the private Boucheron salons on Place Vendôme. Review of an evening made of luxury, calm, and voluptuousness. It’s about time!
