In Venice, Dior invites Tilda Swinton and Karlie Kloss to its “Tiepolo Ball”

On September 3, 1951, the collector and patron Charles de Beistegui gave the now legendary Ball of the Century at the Labia Palace in Venice. Among the guests, Salvador Dalí and Christian Dior, who will always have an unfailing memory of it. Today, on the occasion of the 58th edition of the Venice Biennale, the House of Dior renewed this heritage with its Tiepolo Ball – a tribute to the frescoes that the painter created for this mythical palace. Maria Grazia Chiuri, the house’s artistic director, is well known for her love of evening dresses and baroque – and what better setting than Venice to bring such a ball to life? On May 11, it celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Venetian Heritage Foundation (chaired by architect Peter Marino) with a grand dinner to raise funds for the restoration and promotion of the Venetian cultural heritage. They included Tilda Swinton, Karlie Kloss, Sienna Miller, Hamish Bowles or Ellen Von Unwerth. All were dressed in their ballroom clothes by Dior.
