Evening of the Meurice Prize for Contemporary Art

Faithful to its heritage and rooted in the art of its time, the Parisian palace has rewarded for the sixth consecutive year an emerging artist from the French scene to help him make himself known abroad. The prize, worth 20,000 euros, was awarded jointly to Neil Beloufa for his project “Arabs and Services” and to the Balice Hertling Gallery last night.

The jury, which brought together 14 local players, including the project sponsor Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, the winner of the 2012 edition Alexandre Singh, and the director general of the establishment Franka Holtmann, awarded this project out of 50 submissions.

Neïl Beloufa’s project “Arabs and services” represents a set of installations and exhibitions around representations of information systems and the desire for information of the mass media.

The works of the six finalists – Bertille Bak (Galerie Xippas), Jonathan Binet (Galerie Gaudel de Stampa), Chloé Maillet & Louise Hervé (Galerie Marcelle Alix), Elsa Sahal (Galerie Claudine Papillon), and Ulla von Brandenburg (Galerie Art:Concept) will be open until 27 October, and will be part of the FIAC VIP course.
