The 36th Hyères Festival brings the fun in fashion at Villa Noailles

The sun did not stop shining on the 36th edition of the Hyères Festival this weekend. After opening night at the Villa Noailles with a concert by Claire Laffut, the 4-day program was punctuated by lunches at the Villa Romaine and at the Jean-Marie Rey Estate, finalists presentations and various performances and workshops. At the Villa Romaine on Friday, Malik Djoudi performed by the pool in front of Ichon, Corine and British artist William Farr. On Saturday, Dominique Issermann joined her jury co-presidents Louise Trotter and Christian Louboutin for a few privileged moments before the long-awaited deliberations. In the evening, the Festival-goers headed to the Hangar de la Mouture for the fashion show of the 10 finalists of the fashion contest. Welcomed by a DJ set by Leslie Barbara Butch and colorful neon lights, the guests – Eddy de Pretto, Leo Walk or designer Glenn Martens – settled in the decor imagined by French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet, the former winner of Design Parade. The surprise of the day: Camélia Jordana came down the runway singing her song “Si j’étais un homme” in introduction to the show. After the music, the fashion: the 10 shortlisted designers presented their collections competing for the Premiere Vision Grand Prize, the le19M Chanel Métiers d’Art Prize, the Mercedes-Benz Sustainability Prize and the Chloé Prize. As a bonus, the event ended with a show by Tom Van der Borght, winner of the 2020 Grand Prize. After a nearly two-hour fashion show, it was time to dance… at the airport! The Festival’s flagship club (“see you at the airport tonight?”) welcomed all those who still had energy to burn to the sound of Ichon or DJ sets by Jeune Pouce and Kiddy Smile…
