Fooding Guide 2013 Award

The Fooding Squadron presented its coveted Fooding Awards – Guide 2013 on Monday evening. And to enjoy without hindrance the immutable bacchanal, it was better to have a good coat: after the Buttes Chaumont for its ten years and the Voûtes last year, the’yumming’ office set up its kitchens in the courtyard of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. His “Pouet Pouet Pouet trucks” actually number ten, coming from France, Navarre, and much further afield. The indispensable deep-fried truck straight from Liège, the Morris Truck from NYC, or the Porchetta truck from Copenhagen thus served as a gastronomic prologue, generously sprinkled with Veuve Cliquot cuvées – bereaved but salutary by extreme cold. The encrypted PAF warms up around the coals. Ambiance’from the block’, version IX.

Just enough to put oneself in the mouth for the large dinner erected in the glassed-in – and pompéienne – courtyard of the school: four immense tables in honour of the elegance crossed, of the Franco-centric authenticity, and of the bobo-good taste. To Jamel Debbouze and his happy Comedy Club drilles to hand out the crowns and zippers: Fooding of the best table for Roseval, of the best cook for Guillaume Monjuré (who officiates at Palegrié, Lyon), and Fooding d’honneur for Kristin Frederick and his illustrious “Truck who smokes”. The jokes are flying at the speed of red bottles. The crowd is laughing, as always with Fooding, as often with Jamel. And a little Laurent Garnier gig for dessert, because that’s really Fooding. B.B.
