For Institut Imagine, Kamel Mennour’s Heroes are still doing wonders

Heroes for Imagine just broke a new record! The charity sale initiated by Kamel Mennour in support of the research institute against genetic diseases celebrated this week its third edition. The results of the sale were groundbreaking: in just one night, the participants raised the pharaonic sum of €7.2 millions. With the support of kreo gallery, the list of lots put up for auction did predict the outcome would be amazing. The works auctioned included Philippe Parreno, Jean Prouvé, Alicja Kwade, Jeppe Hein, Tatiana Trouvé as well as the Bouroullec brothers. In front of “Vive la neige”, a neon work by Claude Lévêque (was this a nod to the current Parisian weather?), prestigious guests such as Caroline de Maigret, Jean Paul Gaultier, Farida Khelfa, Pascale Mussard, Jean Nouvel or Natalia Vodianova and Antoine Arnault, all showed their support in favor of the initiative by showing up. Comedian Gad Elmaleh was appointed master of ceremony this year, and he masterfully orchestrated this dinner/sale in the hands of Christie’s. The funds raised will support the Institute’s researchers in their relentless work to understand and cure genetic diseases. Science can definitely count on the support of contemporary art.
