From the museum to the beach, two days with the jury of Design Parade Hyères & Toulon

Say Who met them last March at Villa Noailles to select the finalists. This weekend, Vincent Darré and Inga Sempé, presidents of the Design Parade Toulon and Design Parade Hyères juries, settled in the South of Var for a long weekend of exhibitions and meetings under the impetus of Jean-Pierre Blanc. Between Toulon and Hyères, the members of the two juries inaugurated the rich route that these new editions reserve. The highlight of the first day, Vincent Darré gave us a private visit (and commented especially for our insta-stories) of his “Palais de Toulon”, a carte blanche at the Musée d’art de la ville where his colourful furniture comes alive with a human presence in the spirit of a joyful haunted house. Exhibition, just like that of François Halard at the same place, which was the joy of the mayor of Toulon Hubert Falco. The winners of the first edition of the festival, who returned this year to the jury and to show their installation “Q 0.0.1”, were also rediscovered. In front of a sunset in Toulon, the first day ended with an intimate dinner on the terrace of the Opera where one could hear Pierre Frey and Julien Desselle exchange their impressions, before the building opened its doors to an evening between initiates. The next day, departure for Hyères after a lunch feet in the water in the old Toulon (“provide jersey, sun cream and hat”, mentioned the invitation), the opportunity for Mathias Kiss, Patricia Racine and others to let themselves go to some photos to share without moderation. At Villa Noailles, the last stop on the route, a whole programme of exhibitions awaited the group, including “Tutti Frutti” by Inga Sempé on the sidelines of the design competition won this Tuesday by the young Carolien Niebling. The two editions of Design Parade officially opened, the atmosphere was festive, and it is quite naturally that after dinner, the weekend ended on the beach, at dusk, in a cheerful summer camp atmosphere.
