Interni magazine presents “Human Spaces” at Fuorisalone

During Design Week in Milan, the Salone del Mobile represents not only a highly-regarded international fair, but also monumental installations, exhibitions and concerts all over the city. This is what the Italians call the Fuori Salone: a worldwide meeting place for renowned architects, artists and designers, plus major design and fashion brands. The Italian magazine INTERNI, one of the leading global design magazines for more than 20 years, is historically one of the major players in Fuori Salone. This year, four symbolic places in the heart of the city were chosen to exhibit works and projects: Milan State University, where the inauguration conference took place; Orto Botanico in the Brera district; Torre Velasca; and Arco della Pace. The projects were created by internationally-renowned architects and co-produced with Audi, Eni and Whirlpool, as part of the “Interni Human Spaces” exhibition. “Life is more important than architecture”: Ernesto Mauri, president of the Mondadori group, Gilda Bojardi, director of the INTERNI magazine, opened the inaugural press conference citing famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. In attendance at the conference: the Italian Minister of Culture, Alberto Benisoli, and architects exhibiting this year at the Fuori Salone, including Fabio Novembre. This quote also inspired the theme of this year’s Fuori Salone, “Human spaces,” highlighting the need to put man and his environment at the heart of architectural projects.
