Tradition for several years, the HEAD – Geneva (Haute École d’art et de design) organized at the end of October its annual fashion show to present the collections of its Bachelor and Master students. In its brand new campus (formerly Espace Hippomène), the 23 Bachelor and 8 Master students presented their collections in the hope of winning the coveted Bachelor Bongenie and Mercedes-Benz Master Prizes. New this year, the school (ranked among the top 40 fashion training courses by the very serious Business of Fashion) partnered with La Redoute for the creation of the La Redoute x HEAD award with the opportunity for the winner to create a capsule collection with the French ready-to-wear giant. The talent of HEAD students is no longer to be proven, as the prestigious jury for this 2017 edition attests: chaired by Serge Ruffieux, Creative Director at Carven and a graduate of HEAD, the jury included creators Stephen Jones, Glenn Martens and editor Alice Pfeiffer. While the fashion show was placed under the artistic direction of Léa Peckre, who is used to fashion weeks and has been in charge of the Fashion Design department at the school since 2015, the school also offered a lecture by Serge Ruffieux in conversation with Jean-Pierre Blanc, founder of the Hyères Festival, and Jean-Baptiste Talbourdet-Napoleone, creative director of M Le Monde. At the end of the evening, three young designers stood out: Mikael Vilchez won the Mercedes-Benz Master Prize and Miguel Filipe Mendes Salvador the Bachelor Bongénie Prize. For its first edition, the La Redoute x HEAD Prize was awarded to Flore Girard de Langlade. Geneva, undoubtedly a new fashion capital to keep on the radar…
