One year ago, Nicolas Ghesquière presented his spring-summer collection in the new Maison Louis Vuitton Place Vendôme (still under renovation at the time), the new flagship of the French house opened its doors this Monday after four years of waiting. So, needless to say, the monogram house didn’t do things halfway. At nightfall, the most prestigious guests followed one another in front of the immaculate white photocall before entering the grounds of the Hôtel Heuzé de Vologer. The building is now decorated with an immense sun whose rays run along the entire façade that forms the corner between Place Vendôme and Rue Saint-Honoré. Inside, the reference to the Sun King becomes obvious: a golden statue of King Louis XIV welcomes guests both amazed and intrigued. Sensation of the evening, Will and Jaden Smith lent themselves to the photo game before offering an explosive duo on the stage of the “LV Club Vendôme”, enough to make the most stilted of us lose control. One would almost forget the presence of Catherine Deneuve, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Connelly, Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, Léa Seydoux monuments… and the list goes on.
