Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is the Emperor of collaboration at Magda Danysz Gallery

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac is a master at building bridges between artistic disciplines. Today, with the exhibition “I WANT: The Empire of Collaboration” at the Madga Danysz Gallery, he is the initiator of the mix, the magician of sharing. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac already saw in his beginnings the will to coexist the opportunity to write a new story. As his artistic forays continue, the list of his collaborative works continues to grow – as do the names of those who accompany him. Like Haring, Mapplethorpe, Sherman with whom he creates dresses-paintings resulting from artistic love at first sight. From Walt Disney’s universe or the great paintings of history he draws a prolific and authentic work. So it’s not surprising to meet this Saturday the faces of various artistic circles and a priori without links: figures from the world of art of course (Suzanne Tarasieve, ORLAN), then fashion as the new artistic director of the house Lanvin Olivier Lapidus, but also music with the presence of Lescop, Vianney or Laurent Voulzy. A mixture of personalities that resonates on the walls of the gallery, with “Sonia x Sonia” in particular, a work on which the two names of Sonia Delaunay and Sonia Rykiel meet and tame each other. Leaving the gallery that evening, we say to ourselves that what is intelligent in the empire of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s collaboration is that the artist’s identity is never lost in coexistence. To see until next March 17.
