Marc Simoncini and Ora ïto launch ANGELL

Bike to the future. French entrepreneur Marc Simoncini joined designer Ora ïto to launch Angell, a new smart bike they describe as “the Tesla of electric bikes.” Simoncini, founder of French dating app Meetic, glasses brand Sensee and race bikes Heroïn among other ventures, invested all of his own money in this futuristic electric bike designed by Ora ïto. Complete with an integrated display, the bike is lightweight, but heavy on software with lights designed for driver safety, e-assistance programs and vibrating handle bars signaling when to turn. The bikes were designed as a more sustainable, healthier and more comfortable solution to urban transport – easy to ride, powered by electricity  and safe. Ora ïto lent his product-design prowess to the project with round shapes for comfort, strong lines with a “cockpit” feel, high tech screens and cleverly positioned lights giving the bike a luxury edge. The bike is only the company’s first step with a percentage of revenue dedicated to its Angell Lab, a smart city fund and incubator focused on start-ups aiming to reinvent city mobility and improve daily life in cities across the globe. The serial entrepreneur and designer-provocateur invited an intimate group of Very Important Pedalers to celebrate the bike with a launch party under the Alexander III bridge in Paris. Guests included Axelle Laffont, Joyce Jonathan, Marc-Olivier Fogiel and more…
