Martin Parr’s signature – “Grand Paris”

A few days before the opening of his much awaited exhibition at the MEP, Martin Parr went to the Artcurial bookshop for a small signing session. There he signed his latest work, called’Grand Paris’, which is in fact the catalogue of the exhibition devoted to him by the French institution. For three years, the British photographer looked not only at Parisians but also at the little habits of tourists invading the capital. He photographed the outskirts of Notre-Dame, the Bateaux-Mouches, the effervescence of Paris Plage, July 14 on the Champs-Élysées, parade weeks, the agricultural show, museums or art fairs… to create a colourful guide that, once is not customary with this mischievous eye, does not lack humour.
