Stéphane Rolland shows his voluptuous haute couture in Paris

A pillar of Parisian haute couture, Stéphane Rolland presented his Spring/Summer 2022 collection at the Théâtre National de Chaillot this week. A tribute to the couturier’s hand, the collection features large voluptuous volumes, sleeves falling to the ground or huge draped hoods. The designer took inspiration from the work of the Italian-Spanish expressionist painter Viani. Giant stones cut by the flame glass artist Théophile Caille added a sculptural dimension to the statuesque silhouettes. The show’s highlight was undoubtedly Spanish superstar Nieves Álvarez walking the runway in a hooded blazer in metallic gold gazar and and white maxi trousers. It was enough to delight a first row composed of Mara Lafontan, Chloé Lecareux, Lorena Vergani, Elisabeth Nesmon or Sofya Benzakour.
