Oki Sato showers Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche with his “rain flowers”

In 2020, nature has taken over the Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche. The famous Parisian department store on the rue de Sèvres is kicking off the year with an artistic carte blanche granted to Oki Sato (Studio Nendo). The Japanese designer and architect has installed his moving “rain flowers” (whose Japanese translation “ame nochi hana” gives the exhibition its name), representing four natural cycles. The installation is an invitation to reverie and contemplation taking visitors on a journey from poetic raindrops to white flowers in bloom and beyond. All to the tune of Ravel’s “Boléro” played by an orchestra and in front of a crowd gathered on the two floors of the Le Bon Marché. Like a true conductor, Oki Sato appeared at the top of the emblematic escalators to greet the guests who included Ana Girardot, Clara Luciani, Sonia Sieff, Sylvain Lewis and Sarah Andelman.
