Opening of Apichatpong Weerasethakul Fire Garden Exhibition

Until 28 May, the Torri gallery presents”Fire Garden”, a monographic exhibition by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, director palmed in Cannes in 2010 for his strange film”Uncle Boonmee, the one who remembers his past lives”.

Parallel to his activity as a filmmaker, Apichatpong Weerasethakul developed a practice as a visual artist, directing experimental videos or installations whose subjects betray, as in his films, a committed personality. His work regularly addresses the question of memory, cultural heritage and certain social issues.

Cinematic, the exhibition at the Torri gallery brings together sound projections as well as a series of photographs that punctuate the space in different places. A scenography enhanced by a luminous system referring to the cinema stages, disturbing by its power the cardinal points of the exhibition space.
