Opening of the exhibition “Genre Ideal?”

Following the success of the Kaleidoscopic india exhibition in 2014, this year Guerlain is bringing together some fifteen artists, including Pierre & Gilles and Bettina Rheims, in a new exhibition dedicated to the avant-garde of creation.

Associated with the Fiac’s private career since 2006, this annual event, the fruit of a lasting collaboration with the international fair, bears witness to the special history that unites Guerlain with the artists.

This year, Caroline Messensee, curator of the exhibition, proposes to explore the notion of Gender(s). More than ever a topical theme, our society offers us an abundance of symbols, of cultural figures, which rest incessantly the question of Gender. Biological destiny, social and cultural acceptance, hierarchical relationships, sexual identity? The genre goes beyond the intimate to question aesthetic and conventional movements.
