PHILLIPS : Exhibition of future sales of contemporary art & design

Integrated for the first time into the Parcours Saint-Germain, the Phillips auction house presents a selection of works from upcoming contemporary art and design sales in its exhibition space at 46 rue du Bac.

Works by Giorgio de Chirico, Joan Miró, Marino Marini and Jean Dubuffet announce the new Modern Art Department. The exhibition compares the post-war avant-garde of Europe and Japan with the main representatives of the Gutai movement (Jiro Yoshihara, Kazuo Shiraga, Toshimitsu Imai) and the recently rediscovered Tetsumi Kudo. The latter, with his dystopic vision of the human body and society, weaves vibrant links with contemporary artists such as Cindy Sherman, Doris Salcedo and Francis Alÿs. These propose plastic reflections around the consumer society and the impact of the modern city in intimacy.

The designers are also in the spotlight with iconic pieces by Gaetano Pesce, Pietro Chiesa, Ron Arad and Finn Juhl.

The 20th Century and Contemporary Art Auctions will be held in New York on November 8 and 10 and the Design Masters Auction on December 15.
