Pitti Uomo puts focus on Y/Project

This season yet again, Pitti Uomo impressed with its ability to renew itself and draw in creative designers. With each edition, the fair honors designers on the rise. For its 95th edition, Pitti Uomo put the focus on Glenn Martens, artistic director of Y/Project. On Day 2 of the fair, the designer presented his new collection with a mystical show. In the heart of the large cloister of the Santa Maria Novella church, two thousand guests came to see Y/Project silhouettes walking to a soundtrack of experimental music. The show was as original as it was democratic: fashion students attended alongside Pitti Uomo regulars. Welcomed in the darkness, guests were equipped with a flashlight to find their way to their seats, and to illuminate the runway at nightfall. Belgian-born Glenn Martens confirmed his avant-garde and conceptual vision with a runway that could just as easily have been an artistic performance, composed of sophisticated and heterogeneous elements.
