Scandinavian design and contemporary African art meet at Piasa

An eclectic crowd of Scandinavian design and contemporary African art lovers gathered last night at the “Cube” at the Piasa Auction House. Located rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, this exhibition-sale space inaugurated two of the major events of the new school year. On one side, the exhibition “Scandinavian selected design”, an ode to the genius of three iconic pieces by Finn Juhl, Paavo Tynell and Axel Salto. Orchestrated by the talented Fabrizio Casiraghi (who, when he was not 30, created his own agency, after a stint as project director at Dimore Studio that Say Who met several months ago), the production pays homage to the great masters of Scandinavian design. The exhibition will be auctioned on September 14. On the other hand, Piasa honoured Aboudia, already a great name on the international African art scene. Until 27 September, the Ivorian artist presents “Talking Faces”, a series of large paintings in which the faces of children mix with an expressionist disorder, sometimes brutal, inspired in particular by current migratory crises. Among the personalities who made the trip were Mr Gomis, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire and Paul-Emmanuel Reiffers. A rare opportunity to experience, in one evening, the work of design masters and a young talent of contemporary creation.
