Le Bon Marché celebrates punk with Catherine Ringer

Can the Left Bank be… punk? With “So Punk,” a new exhibition on view until October 20, Le Bon Marché answers: yes, yes it can. The department store on Rue de Sèvres celebrated the irreverence of the movement through music and fashion with cult figures like Bowie, the Sex Pistols and The Ramones. The brand Lola James Harper provided a recording studio; as for fashion, brands like From Future, ELV denim and—surprisingly—Tod’s (with its studded moccasins) offered new interpretations of punk. Le Bon Marché called on personalities with a punk attitude, such as star chef Guillaume Sanchez (who is taking up residence at restaurant La Table), jewelry designer Maria Tash and artist Kriki (who created a tailor-made work displayed on the ground floor). The event drew a few hundred guests to the Left Bank (including Ellen Von Unwerth, Emmanuel Perrotin, actress Hafsia Herzi and designer Yaz Bukey), who all enjoyed a punk-inflected concert by Catherine Ringer.
