The beauty of the ephemeral: 4th edition of the Private Choice exhibition

On the occasion of the International Fair of Contemporary Art which begins this week, Nadia Candet has invested a historical Parisian apartment in the heart of the 8th arrondissement to install the fourth edition of her ephemeral Private Choice exhibition. From 17 to 23 October 2016, this secret place – to access it, one must request it – is the intimate and confidential setting for this fleeting collection of art and design.

From the outset, the visitor is confronted with a multiple artistic vision. From the video work of Marwan Moujaes, where a sun is stubbornly stubborn, to the golden aerial works of Sophie Whettnall (Galerie Michel Rein) in the dining room, to the Endiablées, designed by José Lévy for the crystal works of Saint Louis, each element forms a happy alliance and a joyful mix of styles and genres. “Nothing is true, everything is permitted”, the main theme of this edition, is also the sesame that opens up to other fields, such as literature and make-up. The NARS limited edition co-authored with Sarah Moon, David Hockney’s Sumo at Taschen or Maurizio Cattelan’s portfolios at Three Star Books are presented in preview, to the delight of a privileged audience.

New in this year’s edition, the Private Choice experience extends this year beyond the walls in collaboration with the Gosserez gallery, presenting Emmanuelle Leblanc’s work in both spaces at the same time. Over the years, the dialogue between confirmed artists and young talents has continued: more than 50 creators of a dozen nationalities, a dozen galleries and partner brands are highlighted by the very involved team of Private Choice, on site to make discover the works and allow the curious spirit, wise collector or simple art lover, to fully enjoy this exceptional areopage. A true incubator of talent, Private Choice is therefore part of a meeting process, as an open invitation to fruitful exchanges.
