19.10.2016 Grand & Petit Palais #art

The opening of the FIAC 2016

Clap of beginning for the FIAC which is no longer presented but which has once again widened its scope of possibilities by annexing this year the Petit Palais and, to be honest, the whole avenue Winston Churchill.

On the programme: 189 galleries under the nave of the Grand Palais, from the great mastodonts of contemporary art to the most promising young galleries, all hand-picked by Jennifer Flay’s team and scattered throughout the galleries on the floor. Outside the walls, we find for this edition the various Parisian anchorages of the international fair: the Place Vendôme with Ugo Rondinone, the Tuileries garden which hosts the in-situ works of 18 artists, the Delacroix Museum with the sound sculpture and luminous signage of Stéphane Thidet and performances throughout the city-light.

The nightlife is not to be outdone with its discontinuous stream of dinners, vernissages, evenings, round tables and social gatherings, whose art is very tasty, including the very kinetic Carlos Cruz Diez exhibited at the Palais d’ Iéna and the festive inauguration of Maurizio Cattelan at the Monnaie de Paris, hosted by the Perrotin and Marian Goodman galleries. Climax of this great farandole watered with champagne: the sacrosanct Bal Jaune, which will welcome tomorrow evening all the colours of the rainbow and the sharpest line-up of the week.

Reviews of the opening day where collectors, journalists, artists and VIP amateurs met.
