Tilda Swinton, Bettina Rheims and Haider Ackermann inaugurate the 33rd Hyères Festival

The D-day has finally arrived ! This Thursday, April 26th marked the inauguration of the 33rd edition of the Internationavil Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories in Hyères. Once again, the exodus draining the French capital brought some of its major creatives and journalists to the South of France, all to the benefit of Jean-Pierre Blanc’s creative haven. The founder of the Festival opened the the four-day event with his usual speech as everyone enjoyed the Southern sun in company of the the heads of the three respective jurys : Haider Ackermann (fashion), Bettina Rheims (photography) and Christelle Kocher (fashion accessories). To these headliners were added some of the greatest names in their fields like the icon Tilda Swinton, who is a member of the fashion jury. There was even something magical in this encounter between the British actress and muse and the out-of-time setting the Villa Noailles offers. Lou Doillon and Ben Gorham, members of the fashion jury, were also on hand for this first evening’s experiential offering (including the outdoor installation dedicated to Bettina Rheims, a dance performance by Arthur Hoffner and the exhibition curated by Haider Ackermann and the designer Katsuya Kamo). While the official exhibitions were opening their doors and the finalists from Europe and beyond were preparing to present their collections, the evening called for the pleasure of being together again. In the sunset, a concert broadcast live on Radio Nova and an aerial performance by Arnaud Caizergues were definitely the event’s climax. This was a sign that, once again, the Hyères Festival promises great moments to all its faithful attendees.
