Sitting front row at Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2022

‘Nosferatu’, the legendary film by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, was released just a century ago in October 1922. While the story adapted from the novel ‘Dracula’ has always been a source of inspiration for filmmakers, it’s hard to think of ways to connect it to the field of haute couture. Leave it to the genius of Viktor & Rolf to achieve this masterstroke. Celebrating 25 years on the official haute couture schedule in Paris, the Dutch duo have explored everything: XXL tulle dresses with big holes, living paintings, red carpet as only fabric, or dresses made of wheat… All of this, always with a unique sense of humor and a sense of taste challenging the norms of beauty. This week at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Viktor & Rolf paid a special tribute to the 100th anniversary of ‘Nosferatu’. Like vampires with a passion for fashion, the models all sported exaggerated silhouettes with elongated necks, big shoulders and four-inch nails. All this to the delight of a very stylish front row: Heart Evangelista, Miss Fame, Derek Blasberg, Victoria Magrath or Jessica Wang.
