Vitra opens its new showroom in an old theatre in the Opera district

Lover of design and resident of the 15th arrondissement, you were certainly a fan of 40 rue Violet, Vitra’s showcase, manufacturer of furniture already octogenarian. After thirty years on the Left Bank, the house is now settled in the Opera district. At 5 rue Boudreau, his work in collaboration with renowned designers, from Charles & Ray Eames to Jean Prouvé, meets the Haussmann mouldings of the former Eden Théâtre (the largest theatre in Paris in 1883). For the inauguration this week, many specialists and design enthusiasts came to discover the two floors of this new showroom while sketching, like Eames Demetrios, grandson of Charles & Ray Eames, and the Bouroullec brothers, also represented by Vitra. Still a family home, Vitra creates innovative concepts for the home, the office and public spaces. This is a bit like the feeling of home you get when you enter this new setting very close to the Opera Garnier, an open house where “visitors are welcome”.
