Sophie Calle

Photography and the reasons why

A few hours before the inauguration of her exhibition at Galerie Perrotin, Say Who met French artist Sophie Calle. For this fifteenth exhibition in the Rue de Turenne gallery, the artist presents two projects. The first one, “Parce que”, is a new series of photographs each hidden behind a veil explaining the purpose of these photographs – and forcing the visitor to read before observing (and especially before taking a snapshot). The second, “Souris Calle”, is dedicated to her late cat. For this project, Sophie Calle asked forty artists to compose a song, gathered on a LP displayed on the gallery walls. Among those who participated: Benjamin Biolay, Juliette Armanet, Bono, Brigitte, Lou Doillon, Albin de la Simone and many others. Set in the courtyard of Galerie Perrotin, with her works in the background, Sophie Calle tells us about this new exhibition, her cat and the distinction between her life and her work.
