Julien Creuzet

#art

Born in 1986 in Blanc-Mesnil, Julien Creuzet is an interdisciplinary artist known for his hybrid environments and installations inhabited by suspended sculptures. Blending poetry with visual arts practices, history and philosophy, the French-Caribbean artist explores his cultural heritage by revisiting discourses on the diaspora, French colonialism and his ancestral motherland of Martinique – where he grew up. Suspended sculptures and composite wall pieces made of found materials and waste are the quintessence of Creuzet’s corpus. The artworks are thus not only mixing media and political narratives but also containing layers of signification via their very own materiality. Currently living and working in Paris, Creuzet is experiencing great success. His work has been exhibited several times in institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo, he is represented by the Document Gallery in Chicago and he was recently selected to represent France at the Vienna Biennale in 2024.
