Baylee Zwart x Ocean Diamonds : Jewel of the sea

Mining has quite a bad reputation. The image that comes to mind is often one of men drilling the earth for hours under sweltering heat, looking for the stone that could change their life. Few of us know it,  a far more environmentally aware alternative does exist : the diamonds from the oceans. As unexpected as it seems, the Namibian coast is filled with small diamonds that were carried away by the waves. You can also find some in the depths of the see – they can be found during diving sessions or using a process of filtration of the ocean floor. Experts say these stones were shaped in the mountains and carried out through the rivers to end up in the ocean after a very long journey. These diamonds are both rare and natural. They are the speciality of a company called Ocean Diamonds, which was founded by Robert Goodden – now a reference in the field. Baylee Zwart, a jewelry designer based in California, fell in love with this sourcing method and decided to dedicate an entire collection to the ocean’s diamonds. Graphic, eco-friendly and sustainable, these diamonds are a true testimony of the beauty of nature.
