Circle wood house x Mobius : Head in the trees

Inspired by the inside of a stump, this circular house designed by the Polish architecture studio Mobius stands out for its singularity. What is striking in this idea is the desire not to reproduce a perfect cylinder shape, but rather to recreate the cross-section of a tree on two different levels. Contrary to a smaller trunk, cutting a gigantic tree often means doing it in two cuts starting from two opposite sides. This technique allows to let the tree fall in an exact spot. Poland’s forests are lush, so it’s quite logical that they became a source of inspiration for Mobius’ founder, Przemek Olczyk. Thermal performance and short supply chain sourcing are of course part of this exciting construction.
