Gaia Repossi X Robert Mapplethorpe : The story continues…

Robert Mapplethorbe, who died in the 1980s, was massively known for his black and white portraits, which were as provocative as they were beautiful, and most of all ahead of his time. People may know about his love of flowers and rock and roll – also subjects of his photograph – but we know less about his passion for jewelry. During a visit at the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, Gaia Repossi became fascinated with the beauty of some particular pieces he had photographed. A raw vision made of chains and ‘charms’ that seem to transform into talismans holding mystical powers. It was enough for Repossi to start working on a collection that would pay tribute to the genius photographer, and to find what both their approaches might have in common. The collection will be revealed in Paris in September, so keep your eyes open…
