A true Studio Ghibli masterpiece, ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ is one of the most cult film from the late 1990s. For a few years now, Spanish luxury brand Loewe has gained ground with the appointment of Jonathan Anderson as creative director. Today, the brand has decided to combine their ancestral craftsmanship and the poetic universe of Studio Ghibli’s iconic character. Embracing the trend of injecting collections with a dose of Japanese neo-childish spirit, this new collaboration is not without reminding Virgil Abloh’s multiple collabs for Louis Vuitton. Nevertheless, the seemingly naive stroke, all round and colorful, brings a touch of liveliness to the House’s historic models like the Puzzle or Balloon bags. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that the young generation loves to appropriate yesterday’s icons through pop culture characters. And it is all the more exciting (and successful) when they come from the 90s! The collaboration will be unveiled this weekend at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche.
