You should probably have heard of 1017 ALYX 9SM by now. Matthew Williams, now artistic director of Givenchy, created his own brand years ago to give free rein to his creativity outside the codified realm of the French couture House. After Nike, Stüssy and many other brands, Moncler teamed up with 1017 ALYX 9SM to extend its vision. The first thing you notice is the signature belt buckle. Borrowed from technical clothing, it brings a futuristic touch to the cinched, somewhat oversized silhouette. It also echoes the technical fabrics used to design leggings while circling back on the idea of a harness. Clothes meant for climbing to the mountain top: This may be the right allegory to describe the times we’re living in.
