Guerlain welcomes French artist Claudine Drai11.20.2018
Boutique Guerlain, Champs-Élysées#art
Claudine Drai likes to say that “perfume is a metaphor for the invisible.” The Parisian artist has more than one string to her bow: not only does she create beautiful pieces with delicate tissue paper (her favorite material), but she also writes poetry and has been creatively involved in perfume-making. Her résumé made her a perfect candidate for Guerlain, who selected her to be the 13th contemporary artist to present an exhibition at the brand’s legendary boutique at 68 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, like artists Niki de Saint-Phalle and Sarah Moon before her. Unveiling “L’âme du temps” (“The Soul of Time”), it is an invitation to explore poetry in many forms. Claudine Drai collaborated with designer Hubert Barrère on an ephemeral dress made of tissue paper. During the exhibition opening, Thierry Wasser, Creative Director of Guerlain perfumes, along with Delphine Jelk, presented an exclusive scent created in honor of the artist and inspired by her creative universe. During the evening, a ballet dancer wearing Drai’s dress danced her way through the boutique, spreading the fragrant scent in her wake. The exhibition will be on view at Guerlain Champs-Élysées until January 6th.
