Fabiola Ferrero (b. 1991, Caracas) is a journalist and photographer nowadays based between Bogota (Colombia) and Venezuela. Ferrero is known for her unique and personal portrayal of South America, particularly focused on the ongoing crisis of her mother country, Venezuela. Her photographic work isn’t just a mere detached documentation but presents engaging narratives that go beyond the pure factual. Ferrero combines her educational background in writing and investigative journalism, which she studied at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Caracas), with her very own experience and childhood memories. Actively engaged in social causes, she is a member of Ruda – a collective of Latin-American female photographers – and founder of Semillero Migrante, a mentorship program that works for the integration of Venezuelans and Colombians in the context of the migratory crisis. Ferrero’s work has been widely recognized on an international scale, being featured in magazines such as The New York Times, Le Monde and The Wall Street Journal, among many others. She has also been awarded grants and prizes such as the 6×6 South America Talent award from the World Press Photo (2020), the Inge-Morath Award from the Magnum Foundation (2021), and more recently the Carmignac Foundation Photojournalism award in 2022.
