Snoop Dogg’s reputation is well established, that’s for sure. Born in 1971 in Long Beach, the Californian rapper first gained prominence in 1992 through his guest appearance on Dr. Dre’s debut single « Deep Cover » and later on Dre’s landmark album « The Chronic » that same year. Snoop’s distinctive drawled vocals and laid-back persona quickly made him one of the best-known figures in the gangsta rap scene of the 1990s, epitomising the West Coast hip-hop culture. His debut solo album « Doggystyle » (1993), entirely produced by Dr. Dre, was a critical and commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album spawned hit singles like « Who Am I (What’s My Name)? » and « Gin and Juice, » cementing Snoop’s status as a rising star. He continued to release successful albums such as « Tha Doggfather » (1996) and a string of records through the late 1990s and 2000s.Beyond his music career, Snoop has also established himself as a successful actor, appearing in numerous films and television shows, including Training Day (2001), Starsky & Hutch (2004), and his own reality series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood (2007-2009). Additionally venturing into business, he launched his own production company, Snoopadelic Films, and a line of cannabis products.
