Jem Perucchini

Born in Ethiopia in 1985, Jem Perucchini lives and works in Milan. A holder of a diploma from the Accademia di Belle Arti de Brera, Milan, this young artist creates contemporary paintings that explore the mystery of what is in the making, tackling the processes that take place between what has been seized and what is being formed. Through portraits that introduce black figures into Renaissance-inspired paintings, Perucchini creates a unique sense of intimacy between the depicted figures and the viewer, devoid of any political undertones. At just 28, he is the youngest winner of the prestigious Jean-François Prat prize, which he was awarded in 2023.
