Pepo Moreno

#art

Born in the 1980’s in Tortosa, Spain, Pepo Moreno is a Catalan artist and communicator whose work is best known for its lively, provocative and somewhat naive style, as well as for its strong commitment to the LGBTQ+ community. Ever driven by creativity, Moreno explored drawing from an early age, experimented with a singing career, and pursued a degree in communications and advertising in his home country. The move to Berlin in 2019 was a real creative boost for the young artist, as he discovered just how broad the spectrum of queerness could be, which helped him give free rein to and develop his artistic voice. Drawing inspiration from art brut and his own personal experiences, Moreno creates a visual language that blends fantasy, vintage erotica and text, all rendered with his signature bold brushstrokes and saturated colour palette. In 2015, he moved to the French capital, where he unveiled his first solo exhibition « Dimoni » (Catalan for « demons ») at Galerie Charraudeau six years later. His multidisciplinary practice has also led him to collaborate with several fashion and beauty brands like Jean Paul Gaultier, who summoned the Spanish artist to create a fresco in the heart of the Marais in 2024 to celebrate Pride Month.
